Our challenge was to take a piece that represented our point of view, and make a companion piece that could be in the same collection.
The design that I chose was week 1, Season 9, “Come As You Are”. The dress and jacket are crisp cotton American sportswear. And while I LOVE a gown, I am really proud of this look, and think it has great market appeal. So when I show my collection to buyers, I want it to have some ready to wear elements.
The materials for my look are all from Britex Fabrics. I wanted to stay in the cottons, to have some consistency.
The top is made from a beautiful Cotton Voile. The weight is divine.
I went with a basic summer blouse. It’s long sleeves, but it is sheer and breezy, so it could be almost considered resort wear.
The pants are an Italian stretch cotton blend. It is actually some of the best material I have worked with to date. This would be a fabulous material for pants in human size. It is substantial, stretchy, and has a subtle tone-on-tone pattern to it that provides a little bit of interest instead of just a flat finish fabric.
In the end, the looks both have a crisp finish, both are cotton, both have white and blue… “my girl” is on her way to Nantucket for the weekend. And she will be in my collection.
