I put together a package of goodies to bolster a friend up.
The basket is cheerful and bright. Mine is specifically because my friend lost her job (grrr). But it could easily translate to be used for any of life’s tough challenges (a death, a break-up or a divorce…)
The best part of this project is that I did it all from the dollar store. I made a trip to the amazing Japanese Dollar store Diaso. Big impact without a big price tag! Bonus. And the colorful animation that is characteristic of Japanese design really gives the whole thing a very “special” and playful feel. (Also, the fact that less than 10% of the words are in English. )
I wanted to show all detail so that you could put together your own.
Supplies:
(All the treats)
measuring tapes
tissue packs
duster
bows
ID neck tag
batteries
sewing kit
coin purse
and
basket
bandana
(Other possibilities)
Scissors
soaps
mini cutting board
bottle of wine
sun glasses
(when I started thinking up the captions that I would write on the card, the ideas started to flow.)
Supplies from home:
tape
bright cards
marker
tissue
raffia or ribbon
Here are all the goodies that I picked out
I took each item, and put a little message on it using some colorful card stock.
Tissue packs. I love the sweet graphics on these.
A new piece of identification.
I opened the bandana and laid it in the basket. Then I wrapped the raffia around the outside and tied it.
Then I arranged all the labeled items into the basket.
And for a real “ta da!” moment, I went ahead and wrapped it in plain tissue, and tied some more raffia on it. (I love me some raffia!)
I’ll finish it off with a card on the top.

What a beautiful and caring basket. I never met a raffia that I didn’t like. Maybe you and I should do a weekly wrapping post on the blog.
Thank you Russ! A weekly wrapping post! Swoon!
So very well put together with so much love and concern….great idea!!
