In the fabric store, I am always attracted to the big beautiful florals and bold prints. But I have found that working them into a quilt is not as easy as I thought.
Then, in reviewing the quilts I like, it amazes me to see how many of them are actually made from solids. It is such a brave and bold choice. There is no pattern to ‘hide’ your imperfections. No big flowers to draw people’s eye around. What you see is what you get.
Elizabeth made this baby size quilt
Gasp. I am swooning.
Look what she picked for the back:
There’s my big floral statement!
Fabienne quilted this masterpiece.
(Now, I think that is a mini quilt, but it would work just as well as a bigger quilt too)
Here again, the quilting itself takes this from a project to an artist’s statement.
What about you? What do you prefer to work with?
