Typically when I embroider something I just do outline stitches & french knots but for the squirrel pillow I want to fill in some of the areas. I know this is usually done with satin stitch. I decided I wanted to practice on a piece of scarp fabric before actually doing it on the pillow. I’m very happy with how the leaf turned out & learned I like the way it looks with 4 strands better than 6. The petal I may try doing one more before moving on to the actual pillow. I like the way the two colors look with the short & long stitches. I am worried though about doing such a long satin stitch in the darker color, on this practice piece I stitched a little too tight making the fabric pull. I think this pillow could be a long project.
