Iron Craft ’16 Challenge #12 – Kittyville Hat

For this Iron Craft challenge we were asked to make something either for an animal, featuring an animal or using animal type materials. I had planned on doing an embroidery project, but they remembered I wanted to make my friend Daria a new Kittyville Hat.

I had made her one of these hats about thirteen years ago and she recently lost it. She was really sad about it, but I knew I could easily knit another one up. I have to tell you, after all the tiny gauge, color work projects I’ve been working on recently, this was a treat! Plus it only took me three days cast on to woven in ends to finish.

Details:
Pattern: Official Kittyville Hat (free!)
Yarn: Big Twist Sincerely in Burgandy (I don’t usually use acrylic, but this one feels as soft as a cotton.)
Modifications: The pattern calls for the decreases on both sides of the ears to be done with k2tog. I did ssk on the right side of the ear instead. I think using the decrease the leans the correct way gives a much neater look.
