It is time for me to get working on my submissions for this year’s MN State Fair competitions. I decided to knit up the Pride and Prejudice Mittens that I designed for an Iron Craft challenge last year. I’ve been dying for an excuse to knit them.
I’m using Knit Picks Alpaca Cloud lace weight. The colors are gorgeous and really fit the regency period of Jane Austen. The blue is called Hugh and it is a jewel of a heathered, royal blue with greens mixed in. The Daisy is more golden than yellow which adds to that antique look. This yarn is knitting up beautifully on 000/1.5mm needles.
The peacock design goes around the cuff and takes careful counting of the stitches. I thought I was doing so well and then realized last night that I somehow added and extra stitch about five rows back. Sigh. I could just rip back through five rows, but I feel like the picot edge is a little too wide. It would be better if it was about six stitches less than rest of the cuff. So, I’ll be taking this work apart and starting over. At least, I wasn’t too far in.
Anyone else getting project together for local fairs and county shows?
