How about a new mitten pattern just in time for winter?! These have been in the works for awhile and sort of taken a backseat to the Mitten Garland Advent Calendar, but I finally have them done and ready to share.
These mittens feature a Scandinavian-inspired design of hearts and flowers. I actually found lots of inspiration for the design from the wonderful book, 150 Scandinavian Motifs by Mary Jane Mucklestone.
The back of the mitten has a repeating design with a matching peasant thumb (also known as an after thought thumb). They also have a long 3″ cuff which is great when you want to keep your mittens tucked into your coat for warmth. If you want to make a shorter cuff just do one or two less repeats of the flower motif at the beginning.
Finally, I have written this pattern in both a women’s large and medium size. I have only knit it up in the large though. As always, these have only been test knit by me so if you find any problems in the pattern or chart please let me know.

Download the Hjärtan och Blommor Mittens Pattern. The pattern does include both charts, but they are sometimes clearer downloaded on their own, Hjärtan och Blommor Mittens Chart Large or Hjärtan Och Blommor Chart Medium
