Challenge – Unconventional Movie Nite!
Project-Runway-Season-13-Episode-2-TV-Show-Lifetime-Preview-Tom-Lorenzo-Site-TLO-1
Use movie and movie experience items to create a movie inspired look. This included ideas found in a concession stand plus those used by people who make movies in things like the lighting, costume, and props departments. (The items on the show included things like rope, colored tape, plastic flowers, chain, hard hats, colored plastic sheets, marquee letters, candy, straws, popcorn containers, scripts, CDs, colored wire and 3D glasses.) Remember the judges do not react well to using supplies that are too close to actual fabric. Also don’t make anything that looks to costumey!

Time Limit – You have 12 hours for this challenge.

Accessories – Choose your accessories from the Aldo Accessory Wall.

Runway Day – Runway day is Thursday, August 2nd.
Just a reminder only in-progress photos should be posted to the Flickr group before Runway Day. Save the big reveal for next Thursday. Please tag your photos with PPR13 and ProjectProjectRunway.

Ok, let’s talk about this episode a little bit (there maybe spoilers ahead). Despite what Tim and Heidi said, I thought this was one of the worst unconventional materials runways I’ve ever seen. Almost everything looked heavy and like what it was made from. The straw dress that Tim was raving about in the work room just stuck out from the models body, she couldn’t even put her arms down. When the winning collection came out I thought for sure it was the losing collection, maybe it looked a lot better in person? I also have to wonder if Angela’s pieces look a lot worse in person, because it didn’t look as bad as everyone said to me (that girls is going to have a breakdown). As for the losers, they were just bad in a sea of bad. Having all the same dress didn’t hurt them, but it wasn’t surprising since Hernan really directed the design of all of them. (I went back and looked at his dress from last week and it was in the same line as well.) I sort of felt he should have gone home because of that, but I guess maybe Carrie was off for not standing up for her design in the workroom. I hope these designers start showing us something great soon.
