Waterproof Picnic Blanket Duo Part II

Recently, I made the Lightning Fast Picnic Blanket for the Room 9 basket as a fundraiser project. When one of the teachers saw it, she lifted it up and said, “This is not going to make it to the basket.” and mockingly smuggled it away for herself. So with that tip off, I made one for each of the teachers as an end-of-the-year thank you.

Because I had done it once, this time was more refined. If you want to see the full directions, please look here for the original post. The difference here is that I did not assume you had a stash to work with, so you will buy everything for the project at the store, make the blankets and be done.

Waterproof Picnic Blankets Revisited

Supplies (for 2 blankets):

  • 3 yards of vinyl (off the bolt, vinyl is 54 inches wide. 3 yards makes 2 squares of 54″)
  • 3 yards of one cotton fabric (normally 45″ wide)
  • 1.5 yards of a contrasting fabric

The directions are the same as the first post, but here I did not work with round the corners. Plus, the vinyl was thicker than the tablecloth I used for the last one. Those two details gave these more polish.

Do you like how my shoes coordinate with the colors of the cloth?

I was really happy with the way these came out. And the teachers really liked them.
Happy Summer picnics to you all!
