Road to China Hat

I wanted to do a hat as a birthday gift. And, of course, I had a 3 day time frame. (nothing like last minute knitting)

I went to my local yarn shop Atilier San Francisco and explained my dilemma.  I left with Road to China Garter Stitch Beret pattern and two skeins of Road to China yarn.

This is a great example of the reason WHY to go your local yarn shop. I got yarn that I had never seen before!  Road to China is 65% Baby Alpaca, 10% Cashmere 10%Camel, 15% silk. It is a slice of heaven to touch, and one of the most beautiful yarns I have ever knit with.

I am going to figure out what else to do with it.

The feel and the weight of this yarn cannot be communicated effectively on-line.

The hat pattern is a free pattern with purchase of yarn.

Here is the finished hat.

I will say this, the pattern calls for two VERY different needle sizes. A small needle for the ribbing. and a big (big) needle for the garter stitch part. It is so big that I NEVER thought the results would look like this.

The model that I have on staff was uncooperative for the photo shoot. So I had to use a stand-in.

If you want to touch this stuff, or hear about the colors, call Linda, the manager, she will hook you up.
