On the Needles: Art Deco Mittens

I spent some time this weekend on the Art Deco Mittens for our custom mitten winner Beth.

The cuff is done and I’ve moved on to the hand. It’s been a little tricky getting the hang of working with three colors at once. I just need to remember to make sure each color gets twisted every third or forth stitch so there are no long floats. Surprisingly, the yarns aren’t getting as twisted as I was afraid they would. I really love the way they are looking so far.

Originally, the palm of the mittens was going to be the same as the back of the hand. I started thinking about it and thought a different design might be more interesting. So, I ended up repeating the same motif that I used on the cuff. Luckily, Beth liked it too.
