It’s that time again, the end of another season of Project Project Runway. I have to say, I’m always a little happy to see the end because I feel like my inspiration is waning. Hopefully, my final collection doesn’t show that too badly.
I find it’s easier to design a collection if I have some sort of inspiration. Last season, it was an urban girl on the go. This season my inspiration was a recently trip to Iceland, the idea actually came to me in my sleep.
My looks are each inspired by the terrain in Iceland, lava, rock and ice.
My first look down the runway is Lava. It is a red jersey gown with a cowl neck and rushing. I wanted the folds and softness in the fabric and the collar to represent flowing lava. The shoes are a little out there but I like them with this look.
Look two is Rock. It is a skirt made from a patterned leather topped with a black stretch blouse with a peter pan collar. The pattern in the skirt so reminds me of the lava rock Iceland is made of. I like the sweetness of the peter pan collar with the black leather. I love the earrings with it.
Look three is Ice. This white, rushed gown is made from a textured fabric inspired by the snow and ice on the mountains and glaciers. I hand painted the design on the top of the dress in a style reminiscent of Lopi wool sweaters, but more delicate. To me, this dress is about simplicity and details. It had to have diamonds with it.
I’m really happy with how it all came together. There is a simple elegance to it which I find is what I often like to design best. I’m not sure the judges would think I reached enough for someone showing at fashion week, but I’m not showing belly shirts covered with sheets which they all seemed to think was fabulous. No matter what, I’m proud of what I have shown this season.

Great job. I love all your looks. Nice job this season.
I really enjoyed your looks for the finale (and all season too!). Love the black ensemble with the peter pan collar.
