Yarn Ends Challenge: Ready to Knit

I am doing the Minnesota Knitters’ Guild Yarn Ends Challenge. It’s a good incentive to get rid of all those little leftover balls of yarn we all hoard. I showed you my yarn ends two weeks ago, now I’m getting them ready to knit.

I am doing mittens, of course. I decided I wanted my mittens to match, so I spent the afternoon yesterday watching the Downton Abbey finale and wrapping my ends into two equal balls. Well, as equal as I could get with my kitchen scale as a guide. (This actually inspired me to order a more precision scale so I can weigh my yarn more accurately!)

I have my basic mitten shape drawn out. My plan is to do a different pattern around the mitten for each color, kind of making it up as a go along. I have my 150 Scandinavian Motifs by my side for inspiration.

If you’d like to get ride of your yarn ends, join us in this challenge. We have a Ravelry forum for discussion and to share photos.
