Last week I needed to get a large amount of denim for a project and Jenny suggested we go to SR Harris Fabric Outlet.
Now, I’ve been to Britex in San Francisco and Mood is New York City, but this 30,000 square foot warehouse blew me away.
Aisle after aisle of fabric organized by type. I even found designers like Heather Bailey and Amy Butler. If you are a quilter, you’d lose your mind at the aisles of quilting fabrics (and they have discounted batting too).
Barrels and bins full of buttons. I’d love to go back with a baggie and just fill it with those 10 cent buttons to have around for craft projects.
Need some trims? There are bins and bins of appliqués, belt hardware, beads, upholstery and clothing trims.
Need some purple fun fur? They’ve got it as well as tons of other colors and plies. And zipper so cheap you’ll want to stock up.
Yes, you might have to do a little digging to find what you are looking for. And you have to cut your own fabric when buying under 5 yards. But all fabrics are 50% off the regular price and we found the employees to be really helpful with finding things and figuring out some math for us.
I tried to be really good this trip and stick to buying just what I needed, but I know another trip with time to pick through everything is bound to happen soon.
SR Harris is located in Brooklyn Park, MN. They are open 7 days a week. You can get all the details on their website where you can also get coupons and sign up for a monthly $100 drawing.

This is one of the many reasons why I am so glad that I don’t live in Minnesota (other than the weather). I would absolutely go broke in this place. I would totally turn into a fabric/trim/button hoarder. I hoard paper which is bad enough but this? The first thing I did was to check to see if they had online ordering. The Craft Gods must be looking down on me because THEY DON’T (wiping my sweaty forehead).
I am such a sucker for a deal and when I was planning my wedding, this was the place I ran to for all of my DIY crafting fabrics. I acutally found the decals used on our unity candles and all the burlap I could imagine for the 180 bags we made for favors. There was no way we could beat the prices.
