Preschool Projects is a series we are doing that showcases crafting and interactive projects emphasizing fine motor skill development. We are focused on the process more than the product.
More young friends started with us, so I dialed the complexity factor way down.
I was organizing the project, and put out the paints and the butterflies. And while I was setting up, I put out scissors and scraps of construction paper to keep the little hands busy. What do you know, the little cuttings were incorporated into the final art. We are So so so into our scissors!
I cut 8 1/2 by 11 sheets of paper into butterflies. I made one, as a sample and just put two dots of paint on it.
My friends like to use more paint.”more is more”
And they love to collage things together.
And, in fact, some of the butterflies, once folded, were never opened back up again.
It was a fun project, and it adapted well for the new younger kids as well as for the “bigger” kids.
Happy Crafting!
