Well, this is it, tomorrow my mittens will be delivered to the State Fair for better or worse. I got a little crazed at the end finishing them. I had planned to have a week at home between trips to do any last bits and get them blocked, but then a family medical emergency left me with only a one night at home before they had to be delivered. All the knitting and weaving in of ends got finished while sitting in the hospital. My one night at home was my chance to get them wet blocked (they needed it to help even out some pulling from twisting the yarns and to make sure the mittens were the exact same size.). Here they are drying out…
The back
and the palms.
Tomorrow morning before they head to the fair I’ll do a final steam blocking with the iron to make them look as nice as possible.
I am very happy with how they turned out and I’ll certainly wear them. It’ll be a thrill is I get any sort of ribbon (and I hope they fact I designed them myself counts for something). The main thing though is I’m doing something I’ve always wanted to do and at least entering something in the fair.

Great job on the mittens! And, good luck in the Fair contest. I can’t wait to go and see them.
Congratulations. These are amazing. If you don’t win a ribbon then the whole judging is rigged–that’s all I have to say.
More importantly, congrats on realizing one of your goals. Best wishes–russ
Those are absolutely beautiful – and the flying pig design is so much fun. Well done!
