Week 8! Wow, we are two months into Wise Craft’s Granny Square Sampler Afghan Project. I’m proud that I have stuck with it and really love how much I am enjoying it. This week week we only had to do two squares both in the same sunburst pattern.
I have to admit this is probably my least favorite square we have done so far. Not that it was hard to do or anything, just I’m not wild about the results (perhaps done with a smaller hook it would look better). I did the yellow one first and ended up doing the center yellow part twice. I could not get it to look as nice as I wanted with this slightly thicker yarn. The center round especially looks wonky to me. The orange one looks neater, though I also changed the pattern a bit for it. The original pattern has you dive right in on new rounds with double or single crochets. I did a chain instead of that first stitch like we had done on all the other patterns. I think I looks better. I may do the yellow square over, but I’ll wait to see what it looks like when I lay the whole finish afghan out.
