Week 6 and I’m still loving Wise Craft’s Granny Square Sampler Afghan project. I learn something new each week and am finding crochet really enjoyable. This week’s squares were some of my favorite so far and I learned how to do a half crochet (which seems to really be half a double crochet so why isn’t it just called a crochet?).
Blair calls this square a Sunburst Variation. The idea of a sunburst was the inspiration for how I laid out the colors (every color in my afghan) on the large version. I thought of it as a sun in a blue sky. I love, love, love how it turned out. My husband says it’s his favorite of all the squares I’ve done so far too. I like the small version, but it just doesn’t seem to pop as much to me (or maybe it just pales in comparison.)
And, of course, here is the total progress so far. With each new square I like the way it looks more and more. Still a long way to go to get a whole blanket though.

That one is my favorite. If I did this, i would probably want to do a whole blanket with that sunburst!
