It took me a little while to figure out what I wanted to make for this week’s challenge. Then I took a look around the living room and realized I have all sorts of projects in the works in plastic bags. Now there is nothing wrong with reusing plastic bags like this, but needles tend to stick through the bags and there is not good way to close them. So, I decided what I needed were some bags that would be good for projects.
As I was looking for fabric in my stash, I stumbled across a bunch of zippered pillowcases I had bought maybe two years ago to turn into tote bags. It looked like now was their time.
I should have done this long ago. These bags are so simple to make since the body is already basically sewn and the zipper is already in. I started with an 18″x18″ pillowcase for this tote. The finished size is just right for bigger projects like my 8,000 Feet Hoodie Knitting project.
I’m working on a tutorial to show you all later this week how to make a pillowcase tote for yourself.

That is a terrific idea!
I have never really seen interesting pillow cases, especially zippered ones. Where do you find them?
Seanna – I actually found this one and a couple other cute ones at Target. I’ve also picked a few up at IKEA though theirs tend to be bigger.
