This week at Iron Craft we are celebrating Spring Break by making postcards. I thought this was going to be a super easy challenge but, I ended up struggling with what to put on my card. I originally thought I’d do something Minnesota but just wasn’t feeling it. Finally, I went with the thing most of us here up North are thinking about these days, spring.
I ended up using fabric from my quilting scrap bag to create this stylistic branch with leaves & blossoms on cardstock. It really couldn’t have been simpler. I cut the branches free form & them glued them done. They I cut circles from red & green fabrics to create the leaves & blossoms. I used a compass to help draw out the circles. A sandpaper board helps keep the fabric from moving while you are drawing out the circles (I got one for tracing templates for quilting & it is so handy!) Then, it was just a matter of layering the circles on & glueing them down. I was a little worried it might come off too Christmasy with the red & green but, I think the green was light & bright enough to stay away from that. I had wanted to use pink but didn’t have the perfect one in my stash. This will be going out in the Iron Craft postcard swap this week.

I love it! Not "christmassy". It reads "spring"
Very cherry blossomish. A nice idea.
