Challenge 11: A Look in the Line
Challenge: Design 3 pieces for Heidi’s activewear New Balance line.
Feel free to show what accessories you would use from Piperlime.com
Time: You have 15 hours to create your design (time to make fabric not included)
So, the last couple of challenges the designers were given a hard time about just creating clothes & not “fashion” then suddenly this challenge they have to create sweatsuits for Heidi’s new line! Not just one sweatsuit but three sweatsuits! And they had to be in her color palette (I went & looked at the line, its black, grey & white, some palette.) Boy, did this episode scream, “You will be free designers for Heidi’s line. Heidi is executive producer of this show & she will use you. Plus get free advertising for her line.”Both Susi & I were disgusted with the episode & said there was no way we were creating 3 sweatsuits so, we decided to make 3 pieces.
My look included black leggings, a grey roll-top skirt (for those who prefer not to see their butts & hips just in leggings), a black short sleeve stretch top & a open grey jacket. I will admit right away this is not my best work as I had guests in town all week & only had one afternoon to create my look. But I do like the top. You can’t really tell in the pictures but it is ribbed up to the middle of the bust line & actually looks really cute. I pair my look with a cute pair of Privo ballet flats which would be easy to slip on after yoga class (unlike the suede ankle boots Heidi shows with her line, what is that about?).
Let’s hope we get back to fashion this week!
Susi did some cute stuff with pleating this week so keep an eye out for her post too.

I love this look, Kathy! We felt the same way about the episode. I love Heidi, but the colors in her line were completely drab, the the looks were out of the 80's–like Flashdance or sonething! How can someone who's been immersed in the fashion world for so long, design a line that even the judges would hate? I don't get it. Looking forward to your next look!
Not your best work? I think it looks great. I especially like the grey skirt sort of thing and actually was wondering if I could find something like this in my size!
…love it! I would totally wear that!
Yours is better than 90% of that collection. I mean that as a compliment.
