So, Matt & I are over exploring the low countries which leaves me little time for crafting but that doesn’t mean I’m not out getting inspired or um…buying things to craft with.
We went to lots of outdoor markets in Amsterdam. One of the first vendors I stumbled on at the Albert Cuypmarkt Market was this man selling Hobbylapjes, fabric cut into pieces which seems to be slightly bigger than fat quarters. I bought two Dutch themed squares to incorporate into a quilt at some point.
He was very proud of the yarns & roving they sold & could even tell you about the farmer who raised the sheep on some of them. Behind the booth a younger girl was getting a lesson in knitting in the round. I bought some pretty grey & cream yarn to make myself a pair of socks.
It was a bit crazy with people searching through piles of clothes at the booths & I ended up only getting a knit scarf. Though a booth that was selling handmade bags & felted accessories caught my attention at well.
Now we are in Bruges & will be exploring some of the lace making…well in between eating chocolate & drinking beer….

How fun to find those shops and markets. I would go crazy with all the fabric.
