#169 – Patio Chair Cushions

#169 - Patio Chair Cushions
We bought these little folding chairs at Ikea a while back for our patio. They match our patio set & are easy to store so make great extra chairs. The problem was I couldn’t find cushions for the seats. Everything was bigger than the 15″ x 15″ that I needed. So, I bought two 16″ x 16″ throw pillows at Target, ripped open one side, pulled out all the stuffing then slid in a foam seat cushion that I had cut to the right size. I resewed up the opened seam adding ties made from bias tape to secure the cushions to the chairs. A perfect solution.

This was such an easy project that required just some simple straight hand sewing. The pillows I bought were made to be used outdoors which means the color will stand up to sun longer & the fabric is a little more heavy duty. The foam seat cushion insert I used was a premium densified batting called nu-foam. It made to use indoors & out. I liked the fact it is supposed to retain its shape, is washable, dries fast plus won’t mildew or disintegrate, just what you want for outdoor use.
