#96 – Girlie Quilt Squares

#96 - Girlie Quilt Squares
I think I’m finally getting better at cutting my quilt squares. I discovered that I get a much better cut when I only cut through two pieces of fabric instead of four like most instructions have showed me. I’m not sure how to get a straight strip when cutting through the layers, It always seems to get off at the folds. It took me about 4 hours to cut these 170 squares which isn’t too bad. Now I can move to the fun of laying the quilt out.

Handmade 365 2010- My goal is to spend time everyday working on something handmade for a year & photograph it.

    • You can get a safety "craft" ruler. They are made of stainless steel, have an indent in the centre to hold firm, and fingers away from your cutter. I have used a plastic ruler for a straight edge, but the cutter tends to nick it, plus my fingers are too close to the blade!
I will be getting a safety ruler before I cut any more quilt pieces.
