Challenge 10: There’s a Pattern Here
Challenge: Create your own fabric (using fabric paint, stamps, etc) that is inspired by a profound or important moment in your life & then create an outfit using that fabric.
Feel free to show what accessories you would use from Piperlime.com
Time: You have 15 hours to create your design (time to make fabric not included)
This was a tricky challenge when it came to making our own fabric. It’s just not that easy to paint a small scale design on fabric so I went a sort of pop art look. The inspiration for the design was getting to travel to different places around the world with my husband, the silver from all the metallics of India and the purple that we saw everywhere in Amsterdam & Belgium this fall painted in spheres to represent the globe.
I used the fabric in a sixties inspired tunic dress that I’ve paired with a purple sweater coat. The dress has cap sleeves. The top of the dress is seamed down the middle while the skirt section goes around with only a seam in the back. It’s sleek & modern when paired with black leggings & ankle boots. The purple sweater coat has 3/4 length sleeves, a boat neck & a kick pleat in the back.
I think Susi will be rushing to the runway today with needle & thread still in hand so check in at Craftroom to see here design.

Again, love this! So many women would totally wear that. You made it work!
I love it! It's so chic! I do not question your taste level. 🙂
Both of you totally outdid yourselves this week. Is it scary that I find yours and Susi's "Barbie Fashions" so much more wearable than those of the "real" contestants?
I just discovered your sight and you are incredible! Amazing what you can do on this small scale.
Have you every tried spray on fabric paint? It's quicker and easier to use than the traditional variety.

Very impressive Kat. You are quite the seamstress and designer. Love the outfit.
