The Baby Shower

One of the teachers at the preschool is expecting her first child. She is well loved and cares for our darling little people each day. So, when two of the Mama’s put together the notice for a shower I clapped with delight!  The magnificent Vida and Meghan co hosted the party at Vida’s house. And when I say hosted, I mean HOSTED. It was one of the most beautiful parties I have ever had the chance to participate in. Let me just offer that Vida went to culinary school and is a trained pastry chef. She even worked at Chez Panisse for several years!!! Wowsa! She has a casual elegance and graceful way about her. This is not to demean the many contributes to the event, and there were many, but certainly, Vida really made it all happen. (And, she who hosts is the one who has to clean her house! There is always THAT! )

As we came in, we were greeted by a table with the game prizes, and some beautiful baby cookies.

These cookies were so intricate. They were from Felix the Cook. And I need to report to you that they tasted as good as they looked!

This stuff puts the plastic to shame.

Vida made these huge paper poofs and decorated the house with them.

They were so festive.

There were beautiful flowers all around the house.

The gift was a filled Moses basket. Inside were contributions from each parent.

We each gave one of our favorite products or tools and told her why we loved it. It was really special for the new Mom-to-be because it was our way to give back some of our experiences to her. On a daily basis, she is showering her care and attention on our little cherubs, so it was lovely to turn the tables on her.

And then there were games and activities. Guess who was on the games committee? Yep.

We had so much fun!
We played a “drinking” game, a memory game, a word game, and we did a craft project. The winners received prizes. And, with all these creative amazing Mommies, things got competitive! No surprise.
